Do you want to stop spam?
Many of us get hundreds and thousands of spam messages a day so it’s not surprising we are all getting fed up with them. It is like receiving junk mail through the post, but junk mail is easier to sift through than spam and with spam there is a lot more of it. The problem with sifting through spam is trying to filter it out so we leave the mail we do want. Unfortunately this takes time and a bit of attention to ensure you only delete spam. We all want to stop spam and we should be trying to stop these spammers in their tracks.
Is there a cure?
Not at the moment and I don’t believe there ever will be. Spammers are getting more and more clever in their constant pursuit at filling our mail boxes with spam with the hope some of us click and go to their sites.
What can be done to stop spam?
There are some ways to deal with spam and if you follow them you should be able to minimise the amount off spam you receive.
Some basic pointers are:
Do filters work?
Yes however some of them work better than others. A good one is MySpamBin. It will block 99% of spam by filtering out ‘buzz’ words like Viagra etc. It will also filter out images that are pornographic or unsuitable. MySpamBin will also block all viruses coming to your email account. It will use multiple virus scans to scan inbound messages and block any that contain potential virus threats. A good software like MySpamBin gives you full control of which email you get and doesn’t automatically erase any messages. With MySpamBin you get a dashboard which provides complete visibility of what is being blocked and what is not.
